Tremble, and do not sin;
Meditate in your heart upon your bed,
and be still.
Growing up, my dad would say to us kids when we were loud or out of control, “Be still!” It’s such a good phrase. Stop your restlessness, whether in your words or your behavior or your spirit and just be still.
In this verse David calls us to be still on our bed. When you put your head on that pillow, think! What is disturbing you? Talk to the Lord. Get it right! If you’ve never trusted the Lord Jesus to save you, do it! If there is sin in your life, confess it and leave it behind. Just be still. Just hold your Father’s hand and be still.
“God will be readier to come to His child the next night if, during the day, he has been living childlike, walking in the steps of his Father, holding fast by Him. The one eternal, original, infinite blessing of the human soul is when in stillness the Father comes and says, “My child, I am here.” (George Macdonald)
I love it! Be still and then do what?
"Be still, and know that I am 1God.”
Ahhhhhh! Shhhhh.... do hear it? A heart at rest!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
