I'm so conflicted about what to write today because I want to tell you about a wonderful conversation I had yesterday but then my Bible reading was so good today! I guess I'll do both!
Favorite conversation of Sunday:
Me: Did Jesus have to die?
Boy 1 No!
Boy 2 Yes!
Both with the same enthusiasm, convinced of their answer.
(these are 10 and 8 year olds, btw)
Me: Why did you say your answer?
Boy 1 He had no sin, so he didn’t have to die. He was perfect.
Boy 2 If He didn’t die, we couldn’t have our sin forgiven.
This is why I love teaching children!!! That just makes my heart sing!
Today's Bible thought. Numbers 12 Jealousy
Miriam and Aaron got jealous of Moses and spoke against him.
What will Moses do?
When facing Pharaoh he was bold and blunt! He spoke his mind!
What does he do here with his own family in the face of jealousy?
He doesn’t answer them. (This is not doing nothing! Not answering takes far more effort than answering!)
Now the man Moses was very meek,
more than all people who were on the face of the earth.
He didn’t respond.
He didn’t defend himself.
He said nothing.
Then the Lord defended him.
I find this instructive. Don’t be a Miriam and Aaron and speak against someone out of jealousy.
“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts,
do not boast and be false to the truth.
This is not the wisdom that comes down from above,
but is earthly,
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist,
there will be disorder and every vile practice.”
Miriam and Aaron caused problems for themselves and the whole camp.
They couldn’t continue on their journey for 7 days.
On the flip side, if someone is jealous of you,
just be quiet!
But the wisdom from above is first pure,
open to reason,
full of mercy and
And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace
by those who make peace.
Don’t you love reading the scriptures? I do!
Here is real guidance for life!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
