You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today
shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children,
and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house,
and when you walk by the way,
and when you lie down,
and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign
on your hand,
and they shall be as frontlets
between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house
and on your gates.
What more can you say to that?
I guess the questions to ask are…
Am I loving the Lord with all my heart?
Is there something in my heart that I love more than the Lord?
Am I loving the Lord with all my soul?
Is my whole being, my very breath involved in loving the Lord?
Am I loving the Lord with all my strength?
Do I love Him vehemently? (I looked up the word)
Is His word on my heart? Period. Not just once in awhile.
Do I teach them diligently to my children?
Do I use every occasion to teach the Word of God?
When I sit, walk, lie down, rise.
Is the Word there when I work and when I think?
Is it the foundation for everything done in my home?
I can't help but notice the connection with loving God and keeping His word.
It reminds me of:
He who has My commandments
and keeps them
is the one who loves Me;
and he who loves Me
will be loved by My Father,
and I will love him
and will disclose Myself to him.
There is much to meditate on here and do!
What a challenge.
I sure don’t want God to say this of me…
But I have this against you,
that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
It is now time to live love!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
