Today has been such a full, busy day that I couldn’t write my morning thought here. I was in a hurry. But it’s so good I want to write it now (which is much later in the day.)
Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
Moses died. What a sad day that must have been for the nation, and especially for Joshua. But God had a plan for His promises and His purposes to continue. It was Joshua’s turn. He was to arise and cross the Jordan.
This passage meant a lot to me after my dad died. God used it in my life to let me know it was time for me to get going. My turn. Time to stop grieving and move out. And He helped me do that. Now my mom has died. I have had a really difficult time grieving and all that accompanies that. If left to myself, I would crawl into a hole and stay there. Thankfully, I know God has a plan and purposes He is carrying out in history, and He has a part for me to play in that! It’s time for me to get going because Jesus is coming soon! I need to live for him and encourage others to do the same.
Joshua’s helps to carry out his assignment and my helps are the same. This set me rejoicing today! First, Joshua and I have the powerful presence of God! Wow! If that doesn’t encourage you, nothing will!
Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
Joshua and I have the powerful Word of God!
Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:7-9
Don’t you just love that? I have the whole of the scripture to meditate on and talk about. That is how success comes. Being in and obeying the book. I just spent a couple hours in my day talking about the scripture with a dear saint. Both our hearts are singing! There is nothing like meditating on and talking about the word!
God is accomplishing His plan in history. It’s way bigger than you! It’s not about you, and yet He would like to use you. He has an assignment for you today. It’s your turn. In the words of Laura Routley, “Get going!”
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
