When you go out to battle against your enemies
and see horses
and people more numerous than you,
do not be afraid of them;
for the LORD your God,
who brought you up from the land of Egypt,
is with you.
When you are approaching the battle,
the priest shall come near
and speak to the people.
He shall say to them,
'Hear, O Israel,
you are approaching the battle against your enemies today.
Do not be fainthearted.
Do not be afraid,
or tremble before them,
for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you,
to fight for you against your enemies,
to save you.'
These are Israel’s instructions for war.
The enemy is better equipped.
The enemy is bigger.
Don’t be fainthearted.
Don’t be afraid.
The Lord goes with you to fight for you.
He has done that in Israel’s history. Miracles happen because God is there.
I’m reading a book right now recounting some miraculous victories of Israel. It thrills me!
The encouragement for me today is that for the believer in Christ, God goes with us.
We don’t have to fear. We may have confidence.
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money,
being content with what you have;
for He Himself has said,
"I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU,
NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
so that we confidently say,
"THE LORD IS MY HELPER,
I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.
WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"
Hebrews 13:5, 6
This morning as I read this in my Bible the sun broke over the horizon casting a beautiful glow and reminded me to praise the name of the Lord. I’m praising Him for never deserting me. For helping me. For confidence.
When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
