This morning I’m sitting in an apartment connected to a school here in the Bahamas. I’m listening to beautiful music being sung by the students. I love it! And I’m thinking about Gideon in Judges 8. He is such an interesting character. Like us, he has good and bad traits. This morning one of his good traits is my meditation.
Then Gideon and the 300 men who were with him came to the Jordan and crossed over, weary yet pursuing. Judges 8:4
God gave Gideon an assignment. In this chapter we read about people who would not help him. He didn’t quit, even though he was tired, and even though he had already accomplished a lot.
This reminded me of Paul.
Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14
This should be us. Today I’m a bit weary but I’m pursuing! You have an assignment. Keep pursuing! I am singing this little chorus…
I have decided to follow Jesus… no turning back.
Press on! Maranatha!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
