But when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen nearly upset it. And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.
2 Samuel 6:6,7
I find this account very helpful. It seems so severe, doesn’t it? God struck him down there for his irreverence.
I’m thankful we live in a day of grace because if not we would all be dead. I find this warning important in an age of irreverence. God is a God to be revered. We must not take lightly what He says. He is Great! He is Holy!
This is my prayer today:
Establish Your word to Your servant,
As that which produces reverence for You.
And I love these verses:
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us show gratitude,
by which we may offer to God an acceptable service
with reverence and awe;
for our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:28, 29
God’s kingdom can’t be shaken so….
which is the basis for acceptable service, so thankfully serve Him.
How? With reverence and awe…
Why? God is the same God as He always has been.
He is a consuming fire. A God to be feared.
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
