When I get to 2 Samuel 11 I just want to yell, “No, David, don’t!”
David should have been going to war. He stayed home, lazed around, saw a beautiful woman, slept with her, told lies, had a man murdered, and tried to cover his sin. But in this chapter his sin is described in black and white for all to read, for generations to come, in great detail. I guess he failed in the covering part.
The last line of the chapter is so important.
But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD. 2 Samuel 11:27
This is the bottom line. Our lives are not hidden from God. He sees it. He knows every little detail. Our goal should be to please Him.
Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent,
What a good goal for the day! Live to please Him! Don’t live to please myself or others. Listen to the Holy Spirit when He whispers to my heart, “No, Nancy, don’t!” This is a good prayer...
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
On another note, I had 17 kids in my Sunday School class Sunday. Here they are. I would love it if you prayed for them. In the last three months, two of them have trusted the Lord Jesus! Oh how my heart sings! I posted a video on our home page with pictures from yesterday.
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
