Wow! 2 Samuel 24 is rich. But I will share only one thought that is life molding.
The background to my thought is this. David sinned by numbering the people. God allowed him to pick his punishment and he choose falling into the hand of God rather than man. His punishment was awful. The LORD sent three days of plague, killing seventy thousand men. The destroying angel was about to destroy the city of Jerusalem when God stopped him at the threshing floor of Araunah. David was told to make an altar there. Araunah was going to give the piece of land to David for the altar, but David would not take it. His response was…
But the king said to Araunah, "No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God that cost me nothing." So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
As a high schooler this passage gripped me. Our offerings to God should cost us something! That’s my thought today and a good reminder now that I'm older. Am I showing God how much I love Him by spending my life for Him? Or am I offering Him nothing in return for His great love to me?
I read these great thoughts today:
1. How far what costs you nothing is any benefit to yourself?
He sacrificed all for us! We should offer back to Him a life that costs something!
After all He’s done for me
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
