But Ittai answered the king, "As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king shall be, whether for death or for life, there also will your servant be." 2 Samuel 15:21
I love Ittai the Gittite! David was an exiled king. He was rejected and now leaving Jerusalem on the run from his son. This was not glorious! This was a sad day. Ittai was not Jewish and David gave him an out. He didn’t have to stick with David. His response is beautiful, isn’t it? He wanted to be wherever the king was, whether for life or death. He was the king’s servant.
What a response for us to have to the Lord Jesus. He is presently rejected but soon coming in His kingdom. It’s easy to forget that! It would be easy to live like the world around us and not live for the truth. I want to stick with Him and His cause. Whether for death or for life. I want to be His servant.
My song for the day:
Our Lord is now rejected,
Perhaps today! Soon and very soon! Look up!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
