In 1 Kings 19 Elijah had just experienced great victory but is now running scared.
This is what I noticed…
No waiting for divine guidance.
Eyes on circumstances.
Thought himself a failure.
Wow! Doesn’t this sound like our experience some days?
But then there’s God’s help.
God penetrating his darkness.
God’s penetrating question. (to wake him up! make him think!)
God’s still small voice.
God’s penetrating question repeated.
God sending him to work.
God giving him a companion.
Elijah obeyed and got back to work! God wasn’t finished with him yet.
What a precious personal encounter with the Lord. Today I’m thinking about taking thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. Elijah’s thoughts weren’t right. God had to correct him. Elijah had to listen. Then he could move forward. Every day is a good day to correct the way we think and act. We need to listen to the Lord and do what He says. No matter how we feel. That’s where the help comes from. Thank you, Lord for meeting your people in their caves and moving them on. Thank you for your patience!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
