But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, "Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?' 2 Kings 1:3
Ahaziah fell through the lattice on his roof and was injured. Instead of asking God to help him, he sent to the god of Ekron. Elijah was given a question to ask him. Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going somewhere else?
I’ve been thinking about God’s questions. God had a question for Adam and Eve… “where are you?” He had a question for Elijah… “why are you here?” He had a question for Ahaziah. God wants us to think about what we are doing! In all these instances and in our lives, when we find ourselves in trouble of any kind, we must run to the Lord! Any other help is no help at all. Any other god is not the living, true God! No hiding. No seeking help elsewhere. Run to the Lord!
Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenseless head
With the shadow of Thy wing.
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
