Esther 5 describes the tale of two people. One humbly coming to the king to ask a great thing of him. The other so full of himself he recounts how great he is and is agitated when Mordecai doesn’t bow down to him.
The king will respond to both of these people. Esther gets her response here. Haman will get his later.
When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king extended to Esther the golden scepter which was in his hand. So Esther came near and touched the top of the scepter. Then the king said to her, "What is troubling you, Queen Esther? And what is your request? Even to half of the kingdom it shall be given to you." Esther 5:2,3
My simple thought today is walk humbly like Esther. Come boldly into God’s presence. Seek great things of God, not great things for yourself.
Now I’m singing…
Come, my soul, thy suit prepare:
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
