Last week Craig and I were at Story Book Lodge girl’s camp. I think my favorite time of the day is the campfire every evening at the lakeside. It was such a great week sharing the gospel. What a blessing and a thrill! I haven’t been posting Bible thoughts because it’s too hard at camp. Here I am at home now, rejoicing in all the way God leads and directs us along, and I read this.
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from him a safe journey for ourselves, our children, and all our goods. For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king, "The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him." So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty. Ezra 8:21-23
What a great testimony and example! Ezra told the king about the greatness of God. Now, when he needed protection, he lived out what he believed. He put his faith on the line. He didn’t ask the king… he asked God. And God didn't disappoint him. That is genuine faith!
A few verses came to mind today as I pondered these things.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7
Great guidelines as we set out on today’s journey! Do you know the true and living God? Seek His face and guidance. Don't rely on your own strength or wisdom.
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
