Craig and I are home again! Yay! Home is good! My Psalm this morning made me want to be at home with God...that is His friend. His companion.
Do you want to be God’s friend? We know from other places in the Bible, you need to be born again. God gave His Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) And then? Be His friend! The one in close fellowship with Him. The one who knows His secrets. The one who is on His side!
Let’s think about this. God’s friend is the one who…
walks with integrity. (Integrity? honest, strong moral principles.)
works righteousness. (does the right and good thing.)
speaks truth in his heart. (truth from his heart, not just his mouth. This is the opposite of the liars of Psalm 12.)
does not slander. (No gossiping, backbiting, ripping others apart with his tongue.)
doesn’t do evil to a neighbor. (treats people near him with respect, not harm.)
doesn’t take up reproach against a friend. (when he hears something about a friend, he won’t take it up and pass it on.)
despises a reprobate (a person who has no principles)
honors the one who fears the Lord. (In other words, he is discerning. He sees the difference between people who live according to right and wrong. He respects the one, hates the other. Yes, it said despises!)
swears to his own hurt and doesn’t change. (does what he says he will do even when it hurts him.)
doesn’t put out money at interest.
doesn’t take a bribe against the innocent. (champions the cause of the innocent and needy. He won’t be influenced with money or anything else against them.)
The person who does this will never be shaken! Wow!
This is the profile of God’s friend. It’s good to look at it. Think about it. Strive for it!
I want to be God’s friend. Don’t you?
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
