What David said to God and about God in Psalm 16
I take refuge in You.
You are my Lord.
I have no good besides You.
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup.
You support my lot.
I will bless the Lord who has counseled me.
I have set the Lord continually before me.
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
You will not abandon my soul to Sheol.
You will make known to me the path of life.
In Your presence is fullness of joy.
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
But David is not the only one this is about. This is a Messianic Psalm. Peter quotes it in His sermon as referring to the death and resurrection of Christ. (Acts 2) So I reread it as Christ’s words thinking of the cross. Wow! I can’t get over the sheer joy of Christ. What a work He accomplished on our behalf. What joy it brought Him. Amazing! And that made me think of this:
But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:10-12
Thank you, Lord Jesus! I am rejoicing in the joy of an accomplished work!
What love to Thee we owe,
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
