Psalm 54 is another one of those psalms born out of trouble. David was betrayed by the Ziphites. I always enjoy seeing what the focus of David is in these situations. Listen to this!
Behold, God is my helper;
Beautiful! If God is my helper, I can expect HELP! I’ve had helpers before who I have had to help. But this is God! Not only that, He sustains my soul. Lovely! So what is David’s response?
Willingly I will sacrifice to You;
He blesses the Lord as if He’s already delivered! Faith and praise are all wrapped up together. Bless the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!
In the last months of Mumsy’s life, she would say over and over, “Help me, Nancy. Help me.” And I would say “What can I do for you Mumsy? And she would say “Nothing. Help me, Nancy. Help me.” And it would go on and on. I couldn’t help her. It makes me sad thinking about it. There are so many verses that talk about God, my help. I was going to post some, but there are way too many. Look them up!
When I say “Help me, Lord. Please help me!” He will! Wonderful. It makes me give thanks to His name. It IS GOOD! Today I’m rejoicing in God, my Help!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
