I love personal testimonies. Psalm 73 is the testimony of Asaph, a man confused by life.
Life is a mystery. It is so unfair. Why do the wicked prosper and the righteous suffer? Is it even worth living for the Lord? Wouldn’t it just be better to live for myself? Do my own thing? Life is so hard. Where are the answers?
But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task,
Perspective comes from drawing near to God! Once he got an eternal perspective he understood that there was an end coming that didn’t look at all like the present. The present always has to be interpreted in light of eternity!
Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin.
Oh, God does have an end in mind! He is working. He isn't silent! I should see life the view of eternity. How does God view the present situation? What does God intend to do about it?
What is my best response?
Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.
Love that! When Asaph got an eternal perspective, he understood that God was working His plan. There is an afterward. Asaph’s best help was staying very near to God. God was holding his hand. God was guiding him. God was his strength. His refuge. The nearness of God was his good. And then? Heaven! Thank you, Asaph for writing down your doubts and your help. It reminds me to live in the sanctuary with its perspective on life! It reminds me to love the Lord more and more and desire nothing but Him!
With eternity's values in view Lord
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
