Psalm 92 is a song for Saturday! That’s what it says. Hey, this is Saturday. Let’s sing!
A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
and to sing praises to Your name O Most High.
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning
And Your faithfulness by night,
Two of the verses in this song are about people and God.
First, the wicked and God.
That when the wicked sprouted up like grass
And all who did iniquity flourished,
It was only that they might be destroyed forevermore.
But You, O LORD, are on high forever.
There’s a reason to sing on Saturday! The wicked are a flash in the pan.
But God is on His throne, carrying out His purposes! Forever! Sing it!
The second verse is about the righteous and God.
The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the LORD,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
To declare that the LORD is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
What a song! The righteous flourishes even in old age because he has a relationship with the Lord from which he draws strength. When he opens his mouth to sing, it’s all about God!
Yes, my song today is all about God! His lovingkindness and faithfulness. He has made me glad. I rejoice at the work of His hands! I have a big day today and I awoke anxious, I confess. But after reading my psalm and focusing on the Lord’s greatness, I have a perspective that causes me to rejoice! Thank you, Lord for this Saturday song!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
