How does one have a soft heart? From my psalm today I would say, sing and be sober!
O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
I’m noticing the names of the Lord every where because that is the theme of our Christmas program this year. There were a bunch in the psalm. This is a reason to sing!
The rock of our Salvation
A Great God
A Great King above all gods
I also noticed the warning at the end of the psalm.
Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
As in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
"When your fathers tested Me,
They tried Me, though they had seen My work.
”For forty years I loathed that generation,
And said they are a people who err in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.
The Lord loathed that generation! Very sobering! A generation that didn’t know God’s ways, even though He was right there doing amazing miracles every day. Wow! I don’t want to be like them!
Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture
and the sheep of His hand.
Today, if you would hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts…
I want a soft heart today! I want to know the Lord in such a way that it breaks out of my heart into my singing! I want to know His ways! I want to see what He's doing around me and in me, and respond in gratefulness!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
