David was a man who was hated without a reason.
That reminded me of Jesus!
For they have opened the wicked and deceitful mouth against me;
They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,
And fought against me without cause.
In return for my love they act as my accusers;
But I am in prayer.
Thus they have repaid me evil for good
And hatred for my love.
This is David’s testimony about people hating him and accusing him of things he didn’t do, while he was actually doing good to them and loving them. We’ve probably all had that experience. It makes me appreciate and love the Lord Jesus more!
Listen to this about Jesus!
While being reviled, He did not revile in return;
while suffering, He uttered no threats,
but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross,
so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness;
for by His wounds you were healed.
For you were continually straying like sheep,
but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
1 Peter 2:23-25
Oh how He loves! Thank you, Lord Jesus for love like that!
On another note, starting January 1st Craig and I and some other friends are reading the New Testament in a year. Would you like to join us? Wouldn’t that be fun? Of course we will be posting thoughts. And you could share your thoughts with us! Come along!
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
