Oh, my heart!

For out of the heart come evil thoughts,
murders,
adulteries,
fornications,
thefts,
false witness,
slanders.
These are the things which defile the man;
Matthew 15:19, 20

We are learning the ten commandments in Sunday school and I just noticed that the above sins go in the order of the ten commandments! Jesus cuts to the heart of the matter! What’s important is not outward show, but what is in the heart. He knows your heart. Do you? It's not a pretty sight.

The heart is more deceitful than all else
And is desperately sick;
Who can understand it?
I, the LORD, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give to each man according to his ways,
According to the results of his deeds.
Jeremiah 17:9, 10

And there is no creature hidden from His sight,
but all things are open and laid bare
to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:13

Have you acknowledged the wickedness of your own heart and turned to Jesus for salvation? That's why I got saved. It was the sight of my wicked heart. It was the grace of my wonderful Lord!

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul,
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole;
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.
