I’m excited about reading through the New Testament this year. Craig and I write down one thought, just about every day, that we got from our reading. We started this little exercise before we were married, when we would share our Bible thoughts with each other… and a little love note. We have carried it on all these years and now post our thoughts on our blogs. (Minus the love note.) Anyway, one of the reasons I’m looking forward to this is to see the thoughts the Lord gives us. Yesterday, we both wrote about the women in Jesus’ life. Of all the thoughts from that chapter, we shared the same thought! What will it be today? Will our thoughts be similar? I guess we’ll see.
I was so impressed with the reception of the Messiah in Matthew 2. Magi from the East sought Him out. Found Him. Worshiped Him. Now that’s a wonderful reception!
Herod, the King, heard about Him and was troubled. Well, that’s easy to understand. Herod was King. If another King was born, that would be very bad. His life was affected. His solution rather than recognize who Jesus was, was to kill all the children 2 and under. Bad reception!
Then there was the reception of all Jerusalem. It says Herod was troubled along with ALL Jerusalem. Wow, that’s a lot of troubled people! Why? Because they liked things just as they were. Don’t rock the boat baby! They didn’t want Jesus!
This makes me ask a question. What is your reception of Jesus? Some people just don’t want to seriously consider Him, because they like their life as it is. Some people choose to oppose the truth to the death. Both of those receptions are bad!
Jesus has come to seek and to save those who are lost. Be a Magi and seek Him. You’ll find He has been seeking you all along! Have you received Him? Please do! If you don’t understand, please ask. That’s how the Magi found Him! They asked,
Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
