Today I read Moses' blessings on the tribes of Israel.
I most appreciated Moses' blessing on the tribe of Levi.
Moses to Levi > Deuteronomy 33:9-10
"[Levi] said of his father and his mother, 'I did not consider them'; And he did not acknowledge his brothers, Nor did he regard his own sons, For they [Levi] observed Your word, And kept Your covenant. They [Levites] shall teach Your ordinances to Jacob, And Your law to Israel."
At one point in history, Levi placed obedience to God above even family. Levi placed God before parents, and Levi placed God before children. Levi put the Word of God first before every human love, and God rewarded him. God made the descendants of Levi the teachers of Israel. He spread the tribe out in the land of Israel, so that Israel would have faithful God-centered teachers and judges in every state or tribe in the nation. God rewarded Levi's obedience. God rewarded Levi's first love.
Christ to us > Luke 14:26
"If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple."
Christ wants every believer today to have the heart of Levi, God above family, God before children, God before parents, God's Word before man's word. God wants your heart and your ear first, before you give it them to any human being. He wants God-centered and impartial teachers and leaders in His church.
The reward will not be a hard heart toward others.
The reward will be the heart of God toward all.
Be a Levi. Be a disciple.
For me to live is Christ.
