God's Command in Joshua 11:6 (also similarly in Deuteronomy):
"Then the LORD said to Joshua, 'Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.'"
Joshua's complete obedience in Joshua 11:9:
"Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire."
David's partial obedience in 2 Samuel 8:4:
"David captured from him 1,700 horsemen and 20,000 foot soldiers; and David hamstrung the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots."
Solomon's total disobedience in 1 Kings 4:26:
"Solomon had 40,000 stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12,000 horsemen."
God's Commentary in Psalms 33:17:
"A horse is a false hope for victory;
Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength."
Are you trusting in the Lord or in your own strength?
For me to live is Christ.
