I give this Bible story 2 thumbs up!
"But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes. Adoni-bezek said, 'Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to gather up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.' So they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there."
How awesome! Judah crushed the enemy and cut the thumbs and toes off their king. But God did not ask for thumbs and toes. He asked for the king's head. Judah's partial obedience is 100% disobedience. It was a clever idea. It was a wonderful show. It makes an interesting Bible story.
What about me? When God asks for the head, do I give Him thumbs and toes? Do I cover up my disobedience with a wonderful show of activity? Look at me I'm religious. I do clever stuff for God.
Don't cover up what you should be doing for God with what you are doing for yourself.
For me to live is Christ.
