1 Samuel 4:15 -- Eli: The priesthood is blind and corrupt.
Now Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his eyes were set so that he could not see.
Judges 16:21 -- Samson: The judges are blind and corrupt.
Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze chains, and he was a grinder in the prison.
Israel's judges had grown blind and corrupt. God put away the judges for their failure and installed kings. God's priesthood also had grown blind and corrupt. God put away the priesthood of Eli because of his failure and replaced it with a priesthood of Zadok.
God put away individuals but saved the nation because He chose the nation as His own people. He chose them and gave them eternal promises that guaranty their existence. Individuals and families within Israel, even generations of Jews, have been judged and put away, but a remnant will be made to stand in righteousness in a future day. They will stand because of the eternal promises made to Abraham.
When God makes an eternal promise, He keeps an eternal promise. He is not hindered by human failure.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
For me to live is Christ.
