Ruth 1:1- 4:22
"And…David." (The first and last words of the book)
The love of God's heart in the book of Ruth is a bridge between the period of Judges and the King after God's own heart, David. The bridge is built on the love and redemption of God.
The heavy (and heartless) hand of Saul did not deliver Israel from the darkness of the age. God delivered Israel through His own love and redemption, and then He ruled his saved people through David, a righteous king after God's own heart. God's salvation for Israel included a redemption and a righteous ruler.
Our story is similar. Nothing but the love of God in His Son Jesus Christ and our purchase at His cross can rescue us from the darkness of sin. We cannot be ruled by God until we are saved by God! After we are redeemed from sin, we are set under the loving and righteous rule of Christ. God's salvation includes His redemption and His rule. of love. It's a perfect and wonderful story! Thank Him today if Jesus Christ is your Savior and Lord.
For me to live is Christ.
