"What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine?" 1Samuel 17:26
1 Samuel 17:4, 8,16
"Then a champion came out from the armies of the Philistines named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span…He stood and shouted to the RANKS [ARRANGEMENTS] of Israel and said to them, 'Why do you come out to DRAW UP [ARRANGE] in battle array? Am I not the Philistine and you servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves and let him come down to me.'…The Philistine came forward morning and evening for forty days and took his stand."
I picked out one key word from this chapter (actually two), "arrange" and "arrangement." Israel arranged their army. The word is used for making rows, or sorting things, or arranging bread on a table, or pieces of meat on an altar, or arranging an argument to win a debate. For forty days, Israel's battle plan was to rearrange soldiers. Israel's strategy was to rearrange faithless men, but no matter how many times Israel or the church changes its meeting times, its speaker rotations, or its duty rosters; arranging and rearranging faithless men will yield a fruitless work.
Are you a man or woman of faith who will believe God and step out of the ranks today? What will be done for you? I can only imagine what riches God has for you.
For me to live is Christ.
