1 Kings 4:34 Solomon was loved by the world:
And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon,
and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
Luke 11:31 Jesus is greater than Solomon but was unloved by the world:
The Queen of the South will rise up with the men of this generation at the judgment and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.
When Solomon became king, people traveled from the ends of the earth to come to Him. When Jesus announced that He was king, people came from ends of the earth to put Jesus to death. (Read Psalm 2 and Acts 4:26-27.)
When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you are taking sides with God against the world. The same world that hates Jesus will hate you. Some Christians are afraid to live like Christians. They want to be like the world so the world will be kind to them.
The apostle Paul said, "No way!!! I want the sufferings of Jesus, just as much as the salvation of Jesus!!!" Paul ran to the rejection of Christ. He did not run away from it.
This is what we read last night in Bible study from Philippians 3:10:
…that I may know him
and the power of his resurrection,
and the fellowship [sharing] of his sufferings,
becoming like him in his death.
Think! Do you want your friends and family to know that your best friend is the most hated man on earth? Do you want to be hated like men hate the Lord Jesus? Before you run to Jesus, ask yourself, "Do I want the love of men on earth or the love God in heaven?" Which is eternal?
For me to live is Christ.
