1 Kings 8:15 (God in the third person)
"[Solomon] said, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
who spoke with His mouth to my father David
and has fulfilled it with His hand.'"
1 Kings 8:24 (God in the second person)
"Indeed, You have spoken with Your mouth
and have fulfilled it with Your hand."
Solomon blessed the Lord because God spoke with His mouth, and His powerful hand made His word happen. He even said it twice in his prayer. God does what He says. Trust God to do what He says.
This prayer of Solomon is like an anchor for our souls. I say I will do so many things, but I am able to do so few things. Do you think God is like you and me? Do you think God says a lot and does a little? Our God is God because He is so different from us in this. He speaks sparingly and does exceedingly. We can bank our lives on the unfailing promises of God. God always fulfills His word.
Note how Solomon's prayer begins with a statement about God "God..who," and ends with an exclamation to God, "Indeed, You!"
Blessed be the Lord!
For me to live is Christ.
