1 Kings 17:21 Elijah Prays
Then he stretched himself upon the child three times,
and called to the LORD and said,
"O LORD my God, I pray You,
let this child's life return to him."
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 Paul Prays
Concerning this I implored the Lord three times
that it might leave me. And He has said to me,
"My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."
Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Matthew 26:39, 44 Jesus Prays
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."
…And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.
Each man prayed his own will to God, but only one man received his own will back from God, and it was not Jesus. BUT all three men left the time of prayer confident in the will of God. All three received the will of God in prayer.
What do you want when you pray? Do you want your will or God's will? Jesus reveals that it is no sin to have a human will, but it is a sin to love your will above the will of God.
Matthew 6:10 Is this your prayer goal?
Your will be done.
For me to live is Christ.
