My reading today is in 2 Chronicles. Solomon is preparing to build a house for God.
2 Chronicles 2:5-6 Solomon is building
The house which I am about to build will be great, for greater is our God than all the gods. But who is able to build a house for Him, for the heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain Him? So who am I, that I should build a house for Him, except to burn incense before Him?
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 Paul is building. We are building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
If God is greater than all gods, then this house that we are building is the only house in history that is greater than the builder. We are building today a house for God on the immovable foundation of Jesus Christ.
We should be careful. We should fear. There are consequences (rewards and losses). We should give what the Founder gave, our entire life for the work. We should have great joy. We have been allowed by God to be a part of an eternal work.
For me to live is Christ.
