God makes his children slaves to their life's choices
2 Chronicles 12:7-8 1000BC or so
When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, "They have humbled themselves so I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some measure of deliverance, and My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak. "But they will become his slaves so that they may learn the difference between My service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries."
Romans 6:16-17 60 AD or so
Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed.
Nothing changed from 1000BC to 2015 AD.
God teaches his children through slavery. Do you chose to sin? You will be a slave to sin until you learn the difference between the service of sin and the service of Christ. Do you chose obedience? Then you will learn the joy and freedom of slavery to God!
Do not let your flesh and the world press you into service to sin! Be free! Obey Christ from the heart!
For me to live is Christ.
