2 Chronicles 20:26; After God gave King Jehoshaphat in miraculous victory:
Then on the fourth day they assembled in the valley of Beracah,
for there they blessed the LORD.
Therefore they have named that place "The Valley of Beracah" until today.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
The Valley of Beracah was a valley of death. It was death to the enemies of Israel but life and riches for Israel. Much like the Red Sea, God's enemies died at the spot where Israel was delivered to life. It took Israel three days to gather all the spoil from their defeated enemies, and on the fourth day, they stopped to bless God and make the site a memorial forever. They named it, "Blessing" or "Beracah."
Christians will spend an eternity gathering the spoils from the death of Christ. God turned the place of our Savior's death into a garden of life and blessing. It is a valley of blessing for us. It is the place for us where death has been put to death. It is the place where life now reigns.
Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden,
and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me bless His holy name.
For me to live is Christ.
