For You write bitter things against me
And make me to inherit the iniquities of my youth.
One of the fears of old people is that the sins of their youth will revisit them. The thoughts of their heart are, "Is this the day that repayment will come?" Righteous Job had these same thoughts. Movie writers write movies about it. Authors write books about it.
I have long feared that my sins would return to visit me,
and the cost is more than I can bear.
The Patriot (not the Bible!)
There is no romanticism in being haunted by your past. The Apostle Paul writes good advice for young people, "The best way to not be terrorized by your past is to live your past for God!" He talks to Timothy before Timothy sows a life of regret. He tells Timothy to be a youth who flees youthful lusts, lives righteously, lives lovingly, and develops a life with others who want to live for God.
Now flee from youthful lusts
and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace,
with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
2 Timothy 2:22
My prayer for you is that you will live your young life for God. I am amazed by many young people who have come to know Jesus Christ at a young age and made the decision in their youth to live their lives for Jesus Christ. These young people are jewels for God. Their testimonies are more amazing than the stories of men and women who have been rescued as adults from lives of sin.
The best time to give your life to God it right now.
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the evil days come and the years draw near
when you will say, "I have no delight in them."
For me to live is Christ.
