Rolinger Reflections

What a great summer! Craig has been to camps and VBS in TX, TN, Ohio, IL, MN and MO. He came home for a few days and shared a terrible sinus infection with me so that our last week speaking in MO at Ozark family camp, we were both sick! I have never been so sick while speaking but God gave grace, as He does. What a thrill all summer to see what God does!

We are preparing for a busy fall with conferences and Bible studies.

Mumsy is doing well right now, for which we say “thank you, Lord!”

I guess this isn’t that newsy, but I just want to keep you posted so that you will keep praying for us.

The final camp week was surrounded by two funerals in which Craig helped. I met Craig is Waterloo, Ia for a funeral before camp and we hurried home for a funeral after camp! What a week! It’s good to remember that we are all heading to our eternal home. I love fixing up my home here so that it is beautiful and comfy, how much more important to be ready for our eternal home!

"Do not let your heart be troubled;

for I go to prepare a place for you.
If I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you to Myself,
that where I am, there you may be also.

I am sitting in a motel room in Waterloo, Iowa preparing for a funeral in the morning of a very dear friend, Joan Ferguson. Joan fought quite the battle with cancer and is now with the Lord. She was a woman who really enjoyed life. She is now really enjoying eternal life!

One day someone  asked Joan where she would be in one hundred years. That question got her thinking and searching for answers. She found in the Bible that eternal life is only in Jesus who said He is  “the way, the truth and the life.”  She placed her trust in Him. She is enjoying Him right now! Amazing!

My tribute to Joan is to ask you, “Where will you be in one hundred years?” If you would enjoy eternity with Christ, it has nothing to do with you. It has everything to do with Him! Search the Bible for answers. Eternity is sure!

We are fragile creatures. Here today, gone tomorrow. Make sure you know where your tomorrow will be! Maybe this is why I’m singing a song called “Who am I?”

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name?
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am
But because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who You are!

Mumsy and I went to Lake Geneva Youth Camp’s 60th Anniversary. It was such a fantastic time! Mom doesn’t travel any more, but she really wanted to go. Much of our lives happened at LGYC! We took two days and enjoyed old friends, lots and lots of memories and good conversation. It was a special time!

The best part about it was considering God’s faithfulness over the years in using LGYC to reach many people for the Lord Jesus. The speaker asked how many in the room had been saved at camp. Hundreds of people raised their hands!

I was one of those people. It wasn’t actually during a week of camp, but in our little home on the grounds, as I came to understand that I was a sinner and there was no way I could enjoy heaven. My sin separated me from God. But then I understood that’s why Jesus came!

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 

If God could save you any other way, why would He send His son to die? Don’t trust your eternal state on what you do, but on what God has done for YOU! You can trust Him right now!

Craig had a great week at Sandy Creek Bible Camp in TX followed by a birthday celebration with his dad. Presently he is in Nashville, TN where he will be speaking in the morning and then heading to Horton Haven Christian Camp for the week. Please pray that many children will come to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

I am at home caring for mumsy, who is getting used to her new teeth at the moment.

We’ve had some great visits from friends and relatives recently. What new adventure awaits us? Stay tuned.

I’m watching the fireworks in a couple hours from my apartment as I have a great view on the 11th floor. I think I’ll get my camera out tonight and see if I can capture anything. Boom! Crash! Bang! Sparkles to you!

When you turn 90 you need a blog devoted just to you!

I hope you have a wonderful time with your kids celebrating 90 years!!!!! I’m so thankful for you and your raising a wonderful son. I wish I could be there! Much love to you!!!!!

The other day on my morning walk I encountered some dive bombing redwing blackbirds. I felt very vulnerable and wished for a helmet. My heart was racing as I panicked and my arms flew up over my head for protection. Thankfully, they didn’t nail me!

The other day on my journey I was dive bombed by people. My heart was racing as I panicked and felt very vulnerable. I wished for a helmet. I sat down and opened my Bible as I cried out to the Lord. This what I read:

"O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.” Psalm 140:7 

God is my helmet! He told me so! He covers my head! 
He protects me. Really! It can’t get better than that!

Craig reminded me of a verse in the song “Jesus, Lover of my Soul.”

“Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, Ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of Thy wing.”

That word from God changed everything for me.
I have a personal God who speaks in His word.
I sure hope you know this wonderful God!

Today’s a big day here. We get Craig ready for a week of Bible camp in Texas followed by a visit to his dad in AZ! Please pray that God will …

Salvation is of the Lord!

Today I have enjoyed this psalm.
I’m thankful that God knows me and loves me and leads me!

O LORD,
You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

Last week was a very busy wedding week here. We are so happy for Donyelle and Matt! May God be glorified in their marriage!

This week we are getting Craig ready to go to Sandy Creek Bible Camp in TX and from there to AZ for his dad’s 90th birthday.

I will be here with mumsy who is doing quite well right now. She is in the process of getting new teeth which will help her.

I’m thankful this morning as trials and happiness come and go in life, there is one constant, the Lord Jesus. He is the One worth living for! He surrounds us with His goodness!

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.” Psalm 125:2  Thank you, Lord!

My neighbors juice and they were my inspiration to start juicing so that I could get some healthy vitamins and minerals into mumsy. She is loving it and so are we! I just knew you would want to see. There are six ingredients in this recipe. Can you spot them all?

Today while taking these pictures, I thought of these verses…

“They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
