But, God! This is the wrong place and the wrong people!
And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had assembled. A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.
Paul tried to go to the most fruitful place on earth, but God said, "No!" Instead, God sent Paul to Philippi of Macedonia. In Philippi his team went to where many Jews should have been gathered to pray, but there were only women at the river. Where were the people? This was not Paul's normal audience. It was a women's-only Bible study! It looked like God brought Paul to the wrong people at the wrong place!
What do you do when God brings you to place and a people you do not expect? Many Christians whine and quit, but Paul did what God called him to do. He taught the Word of God. Paul learned to let God arrange the places and pick the people.
Let God do what only God can do! Let God move heaven and earth to give you the people and places of His choice. Then you do what only you can do: Preach and Teach the Word of God. Be a wiling instrument in the hand of God.
Obedience is not doing what I want. Obedience is doing what God wants.

And hearing this, Jesus said to them,
Sixty-four years ago today on February 12, 1952, I entered the world with a sickness that would eventually take my life, SIN! Jesus compares sin to a terrible sickness. Jesus is the cure, so He calls sick people to be cured. People who feel no sin sickness will not come to the Lord Jesus. They will not listen to His call. Because of my sin, one day I will die. My birth body will be planted in the earth like a seed, but because of Jesus' salvation, one day I will live. I will stand whole in a sin-free body that will never know sickness or death for all eternity.
When I came to Jesus, He gave me a new birth from above. Today is the celebration of my birthday from earth, but I have two birthdays. How many do you have?
Happy Birthday to you,
Only one will not do,
Born again means salvation,
How many have you?
Some boast in chariots and some in horses,
But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God.
Boasting means to talk loudly and much about the greatness of something or someone. Most of us boast about a football team, a soccer team, a favorite player, a favorite son or daughter, a fast car or chariot. David talks loudly and much about the Lord, the King, His God.
Boasting about anyone or anything less than God, gets old quickly! When we boast, we wear out our listeners, and people begin to avoid conversation with us, unless our boast is in God and our listeners are brothers and sisters in Christ. Saved men and women never tire of lifting up the name of God. We never grow weary of hearing about and talking about the greatness of our God.
David says, "We will boast in the name of the Lord." Will you boast in the Lord also?
Psalms 19:14 is a good prayer for Monday morning!
Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm / လံာ်စံးထီၣ်ပတြၢၤ 19:14
Read Psalm 19. It's very short. In Psalm 19 God's works and God's words reveal exactly who God is without contradiction. David concludes the Psalm with this prayer: May my words and my thoughts reveal who God is without contradiction. This really is a good prayer.
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
The Lord is...
Rock of My Refuge
Horn of My Salvation
Who is your rock?
David's words are amazing! I think he must have read the book of Philippians.
Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.
I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord;
I have no good besides You."
As for the saints who are in the earth,
They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.
If you want help from God, delight in God's people like you delight in God.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit,
but with humility of mind regard one another
as more important than yourselves.
What about you? What do you value? What do you delight in?
From the mouth of infants and nursing babes
You have established strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
1 Timothy 4:12
Let no one look down on your youthfulness,
but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity,
show yourself an example of those who believe.
God wants to use you when you are young. Will you give yourself to Him today?
My shield is with God,
Make God Your Help!
David trusted God to be his shield, and he was not disappointed. Your shield is your defense. If Jesus is your Savior, make God the One who defends you. Make him your trust and protection in danger, in your studies, with your friendships, for your marriage, for your money and your health. God will not deliver you from work, but he will deliver you from worry. Let God do all the worrying for you.
Isaiah taught Israel about trusting God to be their shield. We must first stop trusting the government, the military, and our own riches. Remove your hope from everything human, and put your hope in God. If you are trusting the government plus God, you are not trusting God at all.
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help
For me to live is Christ.
