Here we are at Story Book Lodge. I haven't taken very many pictures because I have been so busy. Today I hope to carry my camera around with me. We are having such a great week! Thanks for praying for us. The girls are listening and learning!
This morning I started reading Ezra in my Bible. Oh so good!
LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia… Ezra 1:1
I love that God stirs people! This is my prayer this week. That God will stir girls hearts.
I'm listening as God stirs my spirit.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
This morning I am looking forward to remembering the Lord Jesus with the saints in Virginia, MN. Wherever I am in the world when I sit at the Lord’s supper with believers I’m home. I remember the Lamb who was slain, as He asked me to. I express my abounding thanks to God for His indescribable gift. I'm tuning up for eternity. Jesus is coming back!
Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan who read it. 2 Kings 22:8
Imagine the Book lost! Is it lost today? Is it lost from you? Watch this response.
When the king (Josiah) heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant saying, "Go, inquire of the LORD for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us."2 Kings 22:11-13
What a response! Read your Bible! Respond to what God says.
How can a young man keep his way pure?
We are enjoying our week with the Almemans. I thought you should see them. They are missionaries to Spain. I was in their city on a literature crusade team many moons ago. I'm posting that picture at the bottom and you can figure out which one I am.
I’m also working on lessons for next week at Storybook Lodge! I get to go to girl's camp! Yay! One of the lessons I’m working on is the cross. I woke this morning singing…
O Head once filled with bruises,
I love all those phrases! The phase that kept coming to me in the night was:
“We had the debt augmented,
Which Thou didst pay in blood.”
I had such a large load of sin… so large!
The Lord Jesus paid for it in His blood. I’m so thankful for the cross.
Have you have your load of sin paid for? Because it is a LOAD! If not, you are in desperate need! This is why Jesus came! The Son of Man is searching for those who are lost.
It’s more important than anything in your life!
If you have questions, please talk to me! I would love to show you the lovely Lord Jesus Christ!
But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one.
Yesterday I went to a new citizen swearing in ceremony. The ceremony is quite moving. I feel all patriotic when it’s done. It’s still a wonderful thing to live in this country. But I’m longing for the Better Country… that is Heavenly one. So today I’m singing...
This world is not my home, I'm just a passing thru,
I love the verse about a loving mother. I’m going to be hugging her not shaking her hand. It makes me laugh. But what impresses me is the focus and goal of the song… heaven is our home! Are you a citizen of heaven because of the work of Christ? If so, your treasure should be laid up there, not here. Let’s remind ourselves to live for heaven, not earth! Let's eagerly wait for the Savior! Ah, what a day that will be!
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD and spread it before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD and said:
I love it! Hezekiah received a letter mocking God and badmouthing him and his first response was to spread it out before the Lord and pray. And what a prayer! Hezekiah knew God was great, was in control and working out His purposes in history. He called on God to work. It reminded me of this psalm.
A Song of Ascents.
God is on His throne in the heavens. Don’t forget that! What is distressing you today? Spread it out before the One who can do something about it! And then rejoice!
Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets." However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. They rejected His statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers and His warnings with which He warned them. And they followed vanity and became vain, and went after the nations which surrounded them, concerning which the LORD had commanded them not to do like them. 2 Kings 17:13-15
Hello friends! I have had such a wonderful birthday getaway with my lovely husband and then so much activity that I haven't written. I'm back! I thought I'd post a picture of our away time. It was refreshing to be with Craig for a couple days.
I'm reading through the Kings and today my reading struck me as a sad commentary on Israel, on people really. God is compassionate in sending warnings to His people. He is compassionate and gracious.
How do the people respond?
They do not listen…
stiffen their necks…
did not believe…
rejected His statutes and covenants…
followed vanity and became vain.
It’s happening today. People have the same response to a longsuffering God.
What should we do then?
Listen to God!
Respond to Him instead of stiffening our necks.
Believe Him and His word.
Accept what He says!
A person becomes like what he follows. Follow emptiness and become empty. That does not sound appealing to me. Such a huge warning! I'd rather follow the Lord. This verse comes to mind.
If anyone serves me, he must follow me;
2 Kings 5 is a wonderful account of Naaman the leper being cleansed. There is so much in this chapter, but what strikes me today is that God used a little girl to lead Naaman to the truth. Maybe it’s because I am surrounded by children this week that I’m thinking about the great work that God does in children’s lives.
Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman's wife. She said to her mistress, "Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy." So Naaman went in and told his lord, "Thus and so spoke the girl from the land of Israel."
God uses children who know the truth! This little girl knew that God could heal Naaman and she told them that. God honored her faith and the great leader was changed! Marvelous.
I can’t describe the joy that Craig and I have working with the young people God has given us this week. Listening intently. Learning verses. Conversations about the Lord. I’m enjoying watching some of these young people grow in the Lord Jesus in such a powerful way in a short couple years. God is going to use them in their generation to be His witnesses! I know it!
What a great God we have. That he would use any one of us to point people to him is amazing. A little girl. Wonderful! Maybe you today?
Craig and I enjoyed this Psalm in our morning time together. I love it for the call to praise.
God’s servants. That is so true! When we serve the Lord we find so many many reasons to praise!
When do they praise?
From now and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting.
It’s all about the LORD!
He is high above all nations.
There is no one is like Him.
He does amazing things!
One of the wonderful things He does is makes the barren woman a mother of children. That is what He has done for me! Here are some of my joys!! Praise the Lord!
This is my second blog today. That’s what happens when I get up early. I’ve had so many sweet thoughts today.
I’m thinking about Sunday School yesterday. I love teaching Sunday School because I love God’s word and I love my students! Yesterday we thought about something that was an excellent reminder to me. God didn’t ask Adam if he wanted to be in the garden. He placed him there and gave him a job to do. Why didn’t he ask him? Because God is not only our Creator, but also our Owner. He doesn’t consult with us. He knows what is best for His creation.
Isn’t that good? God is in charge of everything on this earth, including my life. It’s a good reminder to give up my “rights” to call the shots. And give up my “rights” to grumble about the difficulties. Oh man... conviction! He is sovereign. Everything God brings into my life, good and bad, He uses to make me more like His Son. He has purposes! David knew this when He said the Lord assigned him his portion and his cup. I don't choose my assignment. God does!
My response should be to carry out my assignment with joy. Ok! Today I’m helping with Vacation Bible School. I already have great joy just thinking about it! I want to remember I’m created FOR HIM and act accordingly!
All things were created by Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
