I said to the LORD,
"You are my God;
Give ear, O LORD, to the voice of my supplications.
"O GOD the Lord,
the strength of my salvation,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
Psalm 140:6, 7
Having just taught the lesson of David and Goliath, I have lots of thoughts on these verses. David couldn’t fight with Saul’s armor. He took it off. God would cover his head. (Protect him.) He took 5 smooth stones and put His trust in God. Trusting God never fails.
I loved this quote today from Matthew Henry:
God is as able to preserve his people from secret fraud as from open force; and the experience we have had of his power and care, in dangers of one kind, may encourage us to trust in him and depend upon him in dangers of another nature; for nothing can shorten the Lord's right hand.
Trust Him, friend. He will cover your defenseless head.
Other refuge have I none;
hangs my helpless soul on thee;
leave, ah! leave me not alone,
still support and comfort me.
All my trust on thee is stayed,
all my help from thee I bring;
cover my defenseless head
with the shadow of thy wing.
More than anything I would like to encourage you in your walk with God!
